Every creature is beautiful in its own way, with distinct characteristics that set it apart from the rest. Meet Newt, an adorable little pup whose appearance is defined by a distinctive feature that gives him the appearance of a grumpy old man – a large scar on his face. Sadly, this injury was inflicted by his own mother shortly after he was born. As a result, Newt lost the entire top of his snout, making him one of a kind and utterly unique.
After being transferred to the New York Bully Crew shelter in Texas, USA by his previous owners due to expensive medical treatment, Newt’s luck turned around when he was adopted by Liesl Wildhart, the founder of Luvable Dog Rescue and Animal Sanctuary. With a new name change from Brute to Newt, Liesl brought him to her home in Eugene, Oregon (USA).
Social media played a pivotal role in how Liesl came to meet and adopt Newt as her own. She stumbled upon pictures and videos of the charming pooch on Instagram and was immediately drawn to him. As an entrepreneur, Liesl knew that she wanted to make Newt a part of her life and give him a forever home. Newt now happily lives with his two dog brothers, Picasso and Wacku, who were already part of Liesl’s family. You can follow Newt’s adventures with his furry siblings on their Instagram account.
Initially, it was challenging for him to adjust to the new circumstances, but now he lives a contented and satisfying life with his owner and other adorable pups. Due to a surgical procedure, his face underwent a transformation, resulting in a resemblance to an amphibian and a grumpy old man, as netizens fondly refer to him. Though he requires assistance with certain tasks, such as eating, his owner is always present to provide support. As per Liesl’s statement to Metro, she has to personally feed him due to his difficulty in consuming food and is cautious not to overfeed him, which might lead to regurgitation.
Newt and his siblings have facial abnormalities, with Wacku having lost his snout and Picasso’s face being deformed. Liesl, Newt’s owner, shared that he fit in perfectly with her family of dogs and was loved by everyone. Despite his disfigurement, Newt is a lively and playful puppy who also shows intelligence and respect towards the other dogs. Liesl appreciates pups like Newt who live life to the fullest and do not dwell on what they have lost.
